Expression Studies.

Hey, guys, sorry that I have been struggling to post comics, but lately, my life has been BUSY.  Also, I finally knuckled down and began playing Skyrim, which was a HUGE mistake since I'm such a completionist.  Anyways, here are some studies in facial expression of a character that me and Chris (my roommate) created.

Cliffs.

So I have been experimenting with line weight, and I think I'm getting kinda better at gauging which lines should be thicker, and where?  Also, I don't know how to draw cliffs, but that is obvious.
Sorry there wasn't a comic last week, there's no excuse for that.  I just wasn't diligent.  My bad.

No Loitering.

I have been watching Samurai 7, an anime adaptation of Akira Kurosawa's film, The Seven Samurai.  It's one of my favorites, and I really enjoy how they messed with the setting of the story.  Anyway, here is a samurai character who is out of place in the modern world.

SLUG OF DOOM!!!

Here's a sketch of a dude fighting a gross slug monster. I doodled this while waiting for the bus to work one day. This week at work is looking to be super hectic, so I haven't had time to ink the pages that I'm working on, but Thursday will be host to a full-on comic. WHOO!

Scary Stuff.

There are boogers on this page.
Just kidding! Seriously, though, allergies are LAME. Why should I have something that lame!?
Here is a doodle of a Nazgul from the Lord of the Rings.

A Room With a View.

Hey, guys, it's a sketch! I've been working on getting perspective shots and trying to make backgrounds look better, mostly because I am terrible at those. Also, this is a doodle from a short comic I've been working on!

Raymond Brown Sketch

Hey, remember SteamFunk? Well, his real name is Raymond Brown. Here's a quick sketch I tossed off when trying to draw a fighting stance from memory. It...didn't go too well.

More Robots!

If I haven't mentioned it before, I'll say it now, but I really like doodling robots. That is probably my favorite thing to doodle. This guy was inspired mostly by my study of anatomy and my love of robots with spindly necks.

Dapper Fellows.

Here are some doodles I did while I was at job training! One is a fellow in a suit with coat-tails! The other is a robot with a TV for a head. They are both very dapper, though!

OH NO I'M LATE OH NOOOOOOOOOOO.

OH CRAP I DIDN'T UPDATE YESTERDAY OH NOOOOOO. Well, it's also because I had to take a train home (I BARELY caught it, too), and then I just got caught up hanging out with my family while I was at home.
While in Little Tokyo the other day, I doodled some stuff in pencil. Perhaps it will make sense to you? It doesn't to me.

He's Got Da Funk.

Hey, guys, it's a sketch! I felt it's okay to share this part of a SUPER SECRET PROJECT that me and my roommate Chris are working on about a group of unlikely crime-fighters who don't exactly fight crime. I love drawing all of the characters, but my absolute favourite one is SteamFunk, or Raymond Brown, as he likes to be called. He is a throwback to our love of kung-fu action movies and blaxploitation films, all wrapped up in a dude who is an expert in different kung-fu styles (I based his moves on Bruce Lee) and has a torso and right arm that are made of metal and powered by steam. As you can see, he is CLASSY.

Sorry, Guys. Filler.

Hey guys. Sorry for the lack of comic. José has been busy doing other drawings that actually count for a grade. BOOOOO! Also, sorry for the lateness of this one. José meant to scan this one way earlier in the day. However, the person to whom he entrusted the scanning of said picture got lost in that dimension where everything is monkeys and typewriters NOT ending up with Shakespeare for about four hours. Oops. Anyway, I'm sure he'll edit out the weirdness of this post later when he tags it. Bye, loyal readers! José will be back soon!
[EDIT]: Today's news-post was written by my roommate, Eileen, who went to the trouble of posting this for you guys on time. YAY!

Another Picture!

Hey, guys. Sorry this one went up so late. I've been BUSY. Also, I have not been able to make any comics look good. As in, whenever I draw a comic, it ends up looking like crap. So here's a picture of a barefooted lady in a dress!

Oh, look, it's a puppy.

Hey, guys, look! It's another drawing!
Yeah, the comic I was working on just would NOT come together, and rather than allow myself to post sub-standard art, I just drew a picture of a girl with an adorable puppy. Enjoy!
Oh, also, you'll notice that a new page, called "Artsy Art" has been added to the site! It is pretty much a growing "portfolio" of drawings that I like and don't think are too bad.

She Just Hates You So Much.

I've always thought of Emily Dickinson as a hipster who mistook nonsense for profundity. Some people like her, and that's cool, but I have always found her work to be nigh impossible to follow, mostly because there is almost nothing in it save for cryptic references to things she never mentions. She's basically David Foster Wallace, but without being good at her job.

Man Why Is There Another Filler This Is Dumb.

So, I'm really sorry about this terrible filler, but I didn't have the time to do a proper comic. If you want to send me angry letters, do so at generaldemeanor@gmail.com, and I'll apologise profusely, because this filler is dumb.

Jose Can't Do Anything Right, Including Blogs

Argh, I know it's just a bunch of stupid doodles. It's been a busy week, so rather than pull it together and draw a proper comic, here's a bunch of doodles that I made during most of my classes on a notepad.

I'm Lazy, and I Know It

Alright, so this isn't an actual comic. Usually, I don't ink my doodles, but I decided at some point that if I was going to start an art blog, I was going to learn myself how to ink some damn doodles. So I did. The one on the top left is a test sketch of the main character of a SUPER SECRET PROJECT I'm working on for this place. It involves dinosaurs, hangars, secret basements, demons from people's pasts, and ice cream.
Then there's a fan-art in the top right that I did of one of my favorite internet-famous artists, Yuko Ota, whose comic, Johnny Wander I enjoy endlessly. Also, I'm a nerd, but you already knew that.
The bird is just a free-hand sketch of one of my mom's love-birds. It's the male, a yellow one, who is endlessly harangued by his very talkative housemate, a blue female. The awful beardy doodle in the bottom left is my attempt to cartoonify myself, but it didn't go over too well, as I dashed it off in about a minute.
You can't really see it too well, but the stuff in pencil was when I was trying to figure out why on earth someone would wear make-up to a gym at ten AM on a Saturday.
And finally, the tough, square-jawed American dude in the center is Sam Fisher. My brother has been playing a lot of Splinter Cell, which is an awesome game to watch someone play.
This has been an awful cop-out since I didn't have time to do an actual comic. Thursday should be more of the same, but Tuesday, the site will be back on track.
